Salmmah’s background
Salmmah was initiated by a group of leading Sudanese women in 1997 as a non profitable civil society organization specially dedicated to support women organizations and women issues, with special devotion to the combat of violence against women and to the acquisition of human rights. Salmmah is registered as a charitable, nonprofit company No. C 13117, official registration was in1998. Salmmah’s head office is in Khartoum, with a small coordination office for program in the South in Juba.
Salmmah’s vision
Salmmah envisions a society in which Sudanese men and women share equal rights and accesses. Salmmah works for a future in which Sudanese women are no longer deprived of educational and economical opportunities, health care and self-determination. Salmmah endeavors towards structural political and legal changes that protect women from gender based violence, oppression and discriminatory ownership of rights.
Salmmah’s mission
Salmmah, an autonomous women /gender resource centre, provides women and men with knowledge and information based on feminism ideology, violence against women and sexuality. The main focus is on mobilizing and empowering women and youth groups and institutions to influence policies and achieve an effective positive change.
Salmmah’s Overall Goal
As a supportive organization for Sudanese women CBOs/NGOs and the civil society,
Salmmah aims at realizing social justice in women/human rights and gender–related issues through providing professional services such as research, documentation, training, and quality management system.
Salmmah's Objectives
Young women and men in Khartoum State are aware of issues of peace, gender and human rights, and development.
Breaking the silence on violence against women, sexuality.
Gender gaps in Government policy highlighted and discussed in public debates.
Salmmah’s partners (civil society group) are working in together and in partnership on women’s issues.
Approach
Salmmah is consistently adopting accurate management skills and building its skills in research, documentation, dissemination of knowledge and information on women/human rights in Sudan. Salmmah works in partnership and alliance with other civil society organizations and support these partner organizations to provide technical capacities
